What services does COPMD offer?
COPMD offers specimen collection and processing services including FNAC slides, incisional biopsies, and excisional biopsies.
We provide routine H&E stained histopathological slide reporting for oral pathologies, head and neck pathologies, odontogenic lesions, salivary gland lesions, lymph node pathologies, soft tissue pathologies, bone and hard tissue lesions, oral cancer, and precancerous lesions.
Additional services include decalcification process, special stains, and immunohistochemistry.
Can I get slide and/or block?
Yes. Upon receiving a written request, COPMD can provide the slide and/or block within 3 working days.
How do I send the specimen?
For courier: Biopsy specimens should be sent only to the primary address:

Can I get a second opinion from COPMD?
Yes. COPMD reports referral cases and undertakes second opinions for oral and maxillofacial pathology cases.

What is the best size for biopsy and the best way to store specimen?
- The biopsy size depends on the nature, size, and location of the lesion.
- There is no single ideal size, but a minimum biopsy diameter of 1 cm is recommended.
- Place the specimen in 10% formalin solution.
- The formalin should cover more than three-fourths of the bottle or container, approximately 10 times the specimen size.
- Do not allow the specimen to dry or remain outside for long before placing it in formalin.
- Wash the specimen to remove traces of blood before placing it in the tissue container.
