Send clinical details along with all diagnostic imaging such as X-Ray, OPG, or CBCT.

Store the biopsy specimen in 10% formalin solution at all times.

Select an appropriate biopsy area, especially for incisional biopsies.
Don'ts

Avoid putting the specimen in saline or water.

Avoid crushing or pressing the tissue pieces.

Avoid very small segmental biopsies less than 1 cm, as they may not be adequate for assessment.
